The tribunal adjudicates on appeals by persons aggrieved against licensing decisions made by licensing authorities relating to the issue of, conditions applied to, or revocations of asbestos or petroleum-spirit licences.

Health and Safety Appeals Tribunal of Northern Ireland
A term used to describe proceedings held before a court or tribunal.
A civil court consisting of three divisions:
- Queen's Bench - which deals with civil disputes including breach of contract, personal injuries, commercial and building cases, libel or slander;
Family - which is concerned with matrimonial and probate matters and proceedings relating to children or adults who cannot make decisions for themselves; and
Chancery - which deals with property matters including fraud and bankruptcy.
