NIJAC is inviting applications for the office of fee paid Legal Member of the Review Tribunal. It is intended to make 10 appointments and to maintain a reserve list for 12 months from the anticipated date of the first appointment (31 March 2023).

The purpose of the office is to preside over and participate in Review Tribunal hearings, considering cases under the Mental Health (Northern Ireland) Order 1986 and the Mental Capacity Act (Northern Ireland) 2016.

 

Eligibility:

To be eligible for appointment as a Legal Member of the Review Tribunal a person must, by 31 March 2023 be either:

  • a member of the Bar of Northern Ireland of at least seven years’ standing; or
  • a solicitor of the Court of Judicature of Northern Ireland of at least seven years’ standing.

 

Applicants are advised that this judicial appointment has a minimum commitment of 18 sittings annually.

 

Fee: £526.58 per sitting day | £263.29 per half-day sitting
