Judicial Opportunities for Registered Medical Practitioners

NIJAC is seeking to appoint various doctors to include GPs and other eligible medical practitioners to sit as fee paid members of the Appeal Tribunals.

The main function of the fee paid Medical Generalist Member is to hear and determine appeals from those claiming Personal Independence Payment (PIP), Disability Living Allowance (DLA), Employment Support Allowance (ESA) and ESA related aspects of Universal Credit. Medical examinations are not carried out by the medical members of the tribunal.

It is intended to make 42 appointments and to maintain a reserve list for 12 months from the anticipated date of the first appointment (6 September 2021).

Eligibility

To be eligible for appointment a person must be, by 14 June 2021:
• A registered medical practitioner with the General Medical Council (GMC).

Fee: £172.67 per sessional sitting (half day)
