NIJAC is seeking to appoint 4 fee-paid Financially Qualified Members to the Appeal Tribunals.  A reserve list will also be retained for 12 months from the anticipated date of first appointment (February 2026).

As a Financially Qualified Member (FQM) of the Appeal Tribunals you will sit on a panel with a Legally Qualified Member (LQM) to decide on entitlement to various Social Security benefits and Child Maintenance issues. As the FQM you are the professional who provides the Tribunal with the benefit of your expertise on the complex financial issues that arise in such appeals

Eligibility

To be eligible for appointment as a Financially Qualified Member a person must, by the anticipated date of appointment (February 2026), be an accountant who is a member of one of the following institutions:

 (a)  the Institute of Chartered Accountants in England and Wales;

(b)  the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Scotland;

(c)  Chartered Accountants Ireland;

(d)  the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants;

(e)  the Chartered Institute of Management Accountants; or

(f)  the Chartered Institute of Public Finance and Accountancy.

This judicial appointment is to a fee-paid role. 

The fee paid is £409.06 per day.
