The Application Process

The Northern Ireland Judicial Appointments Commission (NIJAC) has a statutory duty to encourage applications from as wide a pool of applicants as it can. As part of our activities in support of this duty NIJAC has developed an application process which meets rigorous requirements combined with flexibility, accessiblity and ease of use.

All individuals interested in applying for judicial office are advised to pay close attention to the Applicant Information Booklet and other supporting documentation provided for the role (e.g. the Guidance for Applicants on Judicial Assessment and Selection, the Applicant Advice Notice for Online Applications, etc).

NIJAC provides an online application system – e-Recruit. It is a quick, safe and very straightforward way to apply.

NIJAC is keen that everyone who is interested in applying for judicial office will use eRecruit. It is an efficient process for everyone involved. It allows applicants to go back and forth to their application, saving progress as updates are made. Alternate formats will be considered in response to requests for reasonable adjustments, for further information see our section on ‘Reasonable Adjustments’.

NIJAC also provides answers to some frequently asked questions in relation to the e-Recruit system.
